Shuhei Azuma served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, handling multilateral economic partnership negotiations. He subsequently worked at the Indian subsidiary of a Japanese management consulting firm, focusing on global strategy development.

In 2017, he became the youngest mayor in Japan when he was elected Mayor of Shijōnawate City, Osaka Prefecture. He served two terms over eight years, driving municipal reforms throughout his tenure.

He holds a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Kyoto University.
