Shiho Watabe

Chair, Shibuya Startups KK

Shiho Watabe brings a global perspective shaped by nearly two decades of experience across finance, technology, and the startup ecosystem. She has worked in over 20 countries and held key roles at Morgan Stanley, Google, Mercari US, and Google-backed AI startup ELSA Speak. In addition to operating roles, she has advised startups and funds across Asia and the U.S.

Since 2021, she has served as an advisor to Shibuya City—her hometown—and became CEO of Shibuya Startups KK in February 2023. Shiho has been in the current role as Chair since July 2025.

At the Shibuya Startups KK, Shiho has supported or invested in more than 50 startups around the world, particularly in emerging sectors such as the Care Economy, the Creator Economy, and other innovation fields shaping Japan’s future. With experience spanning Asia, Europe, Africa, and the U.S., she plays a central role in Shibuya’s rise as a global startup hub. She holds degrees from Stanford University and International Christian University (ICU).
