Ryohei Yanagi, Ph.D.

Visiting Professor, Waseda University Graduate School of Accountancy; Executive Advisor, Abeam Consulting; Deputy President, M&G Investments Japan

Dr. Ryohei Yanagi is a visiting professor at Waseda University Graduate School of Accountancy, where he teaches and conducts research on ESG, impact accounting, financial strategy, and investor relations, advocating 'The Yanagi Model' to liaise non-financial information with corporate value. He earned a Ph.D. in economics from Kyoto University and an MBA with distinction from Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management. He is an advisor to Tokyo Stock Exchange and was a member of the G7 Impact Taskforce 2021. According to Institutional Investor, he was selected as the best CFO in Japan's healthcare sector by investor voting five times (2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022) as CFO of Eisai Co., Ltd. He has authored many books including 'Corporate Governance and Value Creation in Japan' (Springer, 2018) and 'CFO Policy Fourth Edition: Financial and Nonfinancial Strategies for Value Creation' (Chuo Keizai, 2025).
